Seattle Adventure Reminiscent

June 7, 2011 Leave a comment

Okay…so yesterday was a Sunday. Shemaine and I were just kickin’ in the living room in the morning. Suddenly an idea struck Sherm like a ton-o-bricks. He asked me right away, “You wanna go to Seattle?” I was still in waking up mode and was kinda hesitant to say yes. I mean, it was a Sunday. But, the weather was so nice out and I had a rest day from working out, that I wandered into my descision making cabinet and found ‘yes’.

We got ready instantly, and were out the door in about an hour. (Record time.) The walk to the ferry was more of a realization that today was actually going to be satisfactory. No clouds, sun was beaming, and I had an extra kick in my step.  P90X hoe.  When we arrived to the ferry, we went straight up to the second deck, and kicked it outside. After we departed, we made our way into the cafeteria. While we were sitting there waiting, we saw some dude feed a seagul while it was flying. I recorded it!

As soon as we arrived, we went straight to the Owl & Thistle. It’s always the first bar we hit up when we get to Seattle. We made it a tradition. Plus, it’s right by the ferry terminal. We asked the bartender if she knew anywhere we could go to watch live music. She was awesome. She wrote directions and names of venues to go to on a piece of paper, but reassured us that there might not be anyone playing on a Sunday. The Mariners game was on and it was the top of the 2nd. We thought maybe they would let us in free since it had already started. We killed our hummus appetizer, downed our Mack & Jack’s, and hit the street.

We were almost to Quest field when somebody shouted, “Goin’ to the game?” It was a ticket scalper and he had two tickets. He pointed out the seats were right behind the Mariners dugout. Row 7 Seats 9 & 10, three rows behind the dugout. The tickets were printed off of a computer, and it had the barcodes on it. It looked legit, but we kinda looked at him like he was full of it. He pulled out a huge wad of cash and asked us, “Does it look like I need to rip you off?” He made a good point. He then asked how much we would spend on them. We said “Twenty.” He replied, “Twenty each.” Got ‘em. We ran to Safeco field and went straight to our seats. Everyone around us had envy in their eyes after we told them how much we got the tickets for. Apparently we spent $40 for two tickets valued at $130 together. Ha! We couldn’t of been there on a nicer day. The oppenent was Tampa Bay, so I got to see Johnny Damon. The Mariners ended up winning, the first one I’ve been to where they actually won. Go Mariners!

When we left, we stopped at a bar to grab a drink. It was happy hour. We sat outside the comedy club in Pioneer Square. Some dude was wearing an ATLiens shirt, but he never heard of Sir Luscious Left Foot. Crazy. We decided to go back to the Owl & Thistle because they have really good happy hour specials. When we got there, we sat at the bar and Game 3 of the NBA finals was coming on. Everybody at the bar was going for the Mavericks. So was I. While we were there, we interacted with the bartenders a lot. They were cool, and were getting ready to clock out. They invited us up the street to a bar to have a drink with them. I think the place is called Tados…not sure though. When we showed up they had already ordered some drinks. Me all moved to a table, and one of the girls knocked her wine glass off of the table. I caught the glass. Can’t say the same for the wine. They mentioned it was happy hour at a sushi bar and were going to head there. We parted ways with hugs…booo.

Anyway, there was a band playing celtic music. They weren’t there to play a show, but to just drink some brew and kick out some folk type jams. I asked if we could listen and watch. They were happy to play for anybody.

After our second beer, we left to continue our advernture elsewhere. We ended up at some at some asain bar/restaurant. We were choppin’ it up with the bartender and some girl that was on her break from another bar. She invited us to her place of work and left. We mulled it over and it sounded like a good idea. While we were finishing our drink a couple came in. They ended up being really cool, so all four of us moved to a table outside. We kicked it with them for a minute. Once we established we were all on the same level when it came to humor, they invited us to a walk out on the pier. They brought some Coronas, and I downed one. A couple girls wanted to kick it back in Bremerton. They hit up Sherm’s phone, and we made a split decision to leave. We thought the ferry was leaving at 9:40, and the next one not till 10:45. We peaced out, exchanged numbers, and took off. We arrived out of breathe. I don’t suggest running after a day of drinking…while you’re drinking. Apparently the ferry left at 9:20, so we ran for no reason.

We sat next to the vending machines, and some girl rolled up. She had her thumb in her mouth, weird I know, but she was fine. Shemaine asked if her thumb was good, and a conversation sparked. I don’t know everything that was said, but when she walked away she licked her thumb…in a sexy way..haha.

All in all, it was the best day I had in a long time. Totally spontaneous, but it seemed it had all happend for a reason. Ended up getting back home and kickin’ it with some girlies ’till the sun came up.

A Tribe Called Quest Documentary

Holy shit! <—-That’s what I was thinking when I saw this trailer. I’m a huge fan of A Tribe Called Quest, and they’re coming out with a new documentary to hit this summer of 2011. Michael Rapaport is the director and interviewer throughout the movie. I can’t say too much, I’m just really excited about it and I just woke up…hungover. So get on my level and peep it.

Captain America: The First Avenger

I watched SportsCenter tongiht after the Dallas Mavericks came back in the fourth quarter of Game 2 to upset the Miami Heat. Which by the way was amazing. I hate to admit it, but I stopped watching the game in the fourth. I thought for sure Miami had it. I had to find out through numerous posts through facebook. DAMN! Oh well…Go Dallas! (Even though they beat OKC!)

Anyway….I saw the trailer for Captain America: The First Avenger. It will be hitting theaters July 22, 2011. Yaaayy..summer flicks…they’re kinda like Slurpees, better in the summer.

It also got me thinking about the Avengers movie that is supposed to come out in May of 2012. You can tell they’re getting it all set up now. Thor and Captain America are the last two steps before doing so, and that is being done this summer. All in time.

Duke Nukem: Forever?!?!

Whoa!!!! As a kid, my step-dad and I were almost obsessed with this game. Was it the violence, the nudity, or the foul language? It was all that and more. I even just beat the Nintendo 64 version on my computer about five months ago. I just heard about the game, and I already can’t wait. Peep the trailer!

Another Seattle Trip

Folk Festival - Seattle Center

Living 10 minutes from the ferry (on foot) really has its perks when you want to just get up and go to Seattle. Ever since I started working out again, and paying attention to what is going into my body, I don’t really mind walkng far distances. Go to Seattle, get a workout, hang with good friends, and not really having a plan? Always count me in! I guess I should have tracked how far we walked, but then again my phone is off. Ya Boiii is kinda broke at the second, but you can only go up when you’re on the bottom.

Von's - Seattle, WA

Anyway we ended up at Von’s right before we went to the ferry. It’s a really nice martini bar. The bartender that served us was very polite and informative. Tried my first Manhattan…it was strong. I couldn’t finish it.

Oh yeah…almost forgot about the gum covered walls in this alley. It’s one of the ways up to the Public Market on Pike Street.
